Charging and Remissions Policy

[PLACEHOLDER: Charging and remissions policy.]

Introduction

This policy sets out the charges that will be made for individual pupils, and the circumstances in which remissions from charges may be granted.

Statutory framework

Under the Education Act 1996, the governing body of a maintained school must adopt and publish a charging policy. Schools cannot charge for:

  • Education provided during school hours
  • Education provided outside school hours if it is part of the National Curriculum
  • Instrumental or vocal tuition for pupils learning individually or in groups (unless the pupil is being taught to play a musical instrument or to sing as part of the curriculum)

Voluntary contributions
